Day 060 Numbers 14-15, Psalm 90
Welcome to Day 060. Israel stands at the edge of everything God promised them. The scouts return and say, "The land is good. But the people there are giants. We can't win."
Ten spies say it's impossible. Two spies say, "God is with us. We can do this."
But the people believe the fearful report. They weep. They wail. They say they want to go back to Egypt. THEY WANT TO RETURN TO SLAVERY! They've completely forgotten what God did to free them.
God's anger is kindled. He tells Moses that because of their unbelief, that entire generation won't enter the Promised Land. Instead, they'll wander in the wilderness for forty years, which was one year for each day the spies spent in the land. Only Joshua and Caleb, who believed, will make it in.
Then something powerful happens because Moses falls on his face and prays. He intercedes for the people. He pleads with God based on God's own character and promises. And God listens. He relents from destroying them immediately.
Moses learns that his prayer matters. God's sovereignty doesn't eliminate the power of intercession. They work together.
The Heartbeat: God hears prayer and responds to it. When we intercede for others, we're participating in God's mercy. Our prayers matter and they're part of His divine plan. And even when we fail, God doesn't abandon us; He disciplines us with the intention of bringing us back.
Heart-Check: When you're afraid, do you trust God? Or do you focus on the obstacles instead of His faithfulness?
