Day 321 Bible Study Acts 4-6

Day 321 Bible Study Acts 4-6

Welcome to Day 321! The church is barely off the ground and already facing arrest, deception, and persecution. But instead of shrinking back, the believers pray for more boldness, not less trouble. Acts 4-6 shows us a young church that’s as honest about its failures as it is bold about its mission.

Heart Dive has partnered with the Manna app to make HD365 even easier to follow. Join the Heart Dive Circle through the player above, and you’ll immediately be prompted to join the complete HD365 reading plan. Once you join, you’ll have access to each day’s reading, audio, and Hub content all in one place. For the best HD365 experience, we recommend following the plan through Manna.

Acts 4-6: Bold Prayers and Hard Truths

Peter and John get arrested for preaching, and when the religious council demands they stop talking about Jesus, Peter’s answer is unforgettable: “We cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard… there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Released, the believers don’t pray for safety. They pray for boldness, and the place where they’re praying literally shakes as they’re filled with the Spirit again. The community keeps sharing everything, nobody claiming personal ownership of their possessions, taking care of each other so thoroughly that “there was not a needy person among them.”

But the story doesn’t pretend the early church was perfect. Ananias and Sapphira sell some property, lie about the amount they’re giving, and both drop dead on the spot, a sobering reminder that God cares about integrity, not performance. The apostles keep healing and preaching despite getting arrested again, until a respected teacher named Gamaliel talks the council down from executing them, reasoning that if this movement isn’t from God it’ll fizzle out on its own, and if it is from God, nobody can stop it anyway. As the church grows, a dispute over food distribution leads to choosing the first deacons, including a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit named Stephen, who starts performing great wonders among the people.

  • God’s Character: He Values Integrity Over Image. Ananias and Sapphira’s judgment shows God cares deeply about honesty, not just the appearance of generosity (Acts 5:1-11).
  • God’s Desire: Boldness Instead of Safety. When threatened, the believers’ prayer isn’t for protection, it’s for more courage to keep speaking (Acts 4:29-31).
  • God’s Promise: Salvation Found in No Other Name. Peter declares plainly that there is no other name under heaven by which people can be saved (Acts 4:12).
  • Glimpse of Jesus: The Rejected Stone Becomes the Cornerstone. Peter applies the same Old Testament prophecy Jesus used about Himself. The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone (Acts 4:11).

The Heartbeat:

God calls His people to bold, honest faith, where prayer asks for courage over comfort and the name of Jesus remains the only name that truly saves.

Heart Check:

  • When the apostles faced threats, their prayer wasn’t for the trouble to disappear, it was for boldness to keep going. When you’re facing opposition, is your first instinct to pray for an escape or for courage?
  • Ananias and Sapphira wanted the appearance of generosity without the reality of it. Is there an area of your life where you’ve been more concerned with how something looks than with whether it’s actually true?

Heart Dive 365 uses the same Bible reading plan across multiple years, but each year offers a different teaching style and pace. Choose the phase that fits where you are right now.

✨ One Hub. Everything You Need. Every Daily Blog Post includes all three phases on this single page—videos, audio, PDFs, study notes—so you never have to leave to find what you're looking for. (This comprehensive resource is free thanks to our Heartkeepers community.)

Where are the notes?

Understanding Our Terminology

What are "Notes"? We use this word for three different types of study materials:

  • Bible Journaling Pages: PDF copies of Kanoe and Holly's Bible pages with their personal journaling alongside Scripture. Kanoe's notes are available for the entire Bonus Content year and most of Phase One. On days Kanoe took a full Sabbath, Holly's notes cover those passages instead.
  • Heart Check PDFs: Chapter summaries, conversational commentary, reflection questions, Deep Dive questions, and guided closing prayers.
  • Heartbeat of God PDFs: Deep theological breakdowns exploring God's character, attributes, and desires through Scripture.
  • Heart Work PDFs: Practical discipleship challenges and application exercises for personal growth or small group discussion.

One More Thing: All of this was created at significant cost, but is now available completely free thanks to our Heartkeeper community.

Congratulations on making it this far with us!

We hope you've enjoyed the Bonus Year with Kanoe and Phase One of Heart Dive 365.

If you're looking for Phase 2, aka The Heartbeat of God, or Phase 3 Heart Work PDFs, we're currently doing a third walk through the Bible at a more sustainable pace. We're currently taking a sabbatical, so we can honor both the season of life we're in and the depth these passages deserve.

Phase 2 and Phase 3 will make their way to the Hub as we complete them. This could take a few weeks or a few years, and we're okay with that. Good things take time.
