Day 318 Bible Study Matthew 28; Mark 16
Day 318 Bible Study Matthew 28; Mark 16
Welcome to Day 318! The stone is rolled away, the tomb is empty, and an angel has one question for the women standing there in shock: why are you looking for the living among the dead? Matthew and Mark both tell us the same impossible, wonderful news. He is risen.

Matthew 28; Mark 16: He Is Not Here
An earthquake shakes the ground as an angel rolls back the stone, not to let Jesus out, He was already gone, but to let everyone else see in. The guards, trained Roman soldiers, are so terrified they become “like dead men.” The women who came to anoint a body for burial instead hear the most unexpected sentence in history: “He is not here, for he has risen, as he said.” Jesus Himself meets them on the way, and their fear turns into worship as they grab hold of His feet.
The disciples gather on a mountain in Galilee, exactly where Jesus told them to go, and He gives them one final, massive assignment: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Then He adds the promise that has carried the church for two thousand years: “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” This isn’t a goodbye. It’s a commission backed by a guarantee.
- God’s Character: He Has Power Over Death Itself. The resurrection isn’t a metaphor or a nice story, it’s the literal, physical reversal of death by the only One with authority to do it (Matt 28:5-6).
- God’s Desire: Every Nation Discipled, Not Just a Few. The Great Commission makes clear God’s heart was never limited to one people group. It’s all nations, all along (Matt 28:19).
- God’s Promise: His Presence to the End of the Age. Jesus doesn’t send His followers out alone. He promises to be with them every single day until He returns (Matt 28:20).
- Glimpse of Jesus: The Risen King With All Authority. Jesus doesn’t claim partial power. He claims all authority in heaven and on earth, exactly the authority needed to back up every promise He’s ever made (Matt 28:18).
The Heartbeat:
God is the resurrected King with all authority in heaven and on earth, sending His people to every nation with the promise that He is with them until the very end.
Heart Check:
- The women went from fear to worship the moment they encountered the risen Jesus face to face. What would it take for your fear this week to turn into worship instead?
- Jesus promised to be with His followers to the end of the age, not just during the easy parts. Is there a task or calling you’ve been avoiding because it feels too big, forgetting He promised to go with you?

Heart Dive 365 uses the same Bible reading plan across multiple years, but each year offers a different teaching style and pace. Choose the phase that fits where you are right now.
✨ One Hub. Everything You Need. Every Daily Blog Post includes all three phases on this single page—videos, audio, PDFs, study notes—so you never have to leave to find what you're looking for. (This comprehensive resource is free thanks to our Heartkeepers community.)
Where are the notes?
Understanding Our Terminology
What are "Notes"? We use this word for three different types of study materials:
- Bible Journaling Pages: PDF copies of Kanoe and Holly's Bible pages with their personal journaling alongside Scripture. Kanoe's notes are available for the entire Bonus Content year and most of Phase One. On days Kanoe took a full Sabbath, Holly's notes cover those passages instead.
- Heart Check PDFs: Chapter summaries, conversational commentary, reflection questions, Deep Dive questions, and guided closing prayers.
- Heartbeat of God PDFs: Deep theological breakdowns exploring God's character, attributes, and desires through Scripture.
- Heart Work PDFs: Practical discipleship challenges and application exercises for personal growth or small group discussion.
One More Thing: All of this was created at significant cost, but is now available completely free thanks to our Heartkeeper community.

We hope you've enjoyed the Bonus Year with Kanoe and Phase One of Heart Dive 365.
If you're looking for Phase 2, aka The Heartbeat of God, or Phase 3 Heart Work PDFs, we're currently doing a third walk through the Bible at a more sustainable pace. We're currently taking a sabbatical, so we can honor both the season of life we're in and the depth these passages deserve.
Phase 2 and Phase 3 will make their way to the Hub as we complete them. This could take a few weeks or a few years, and we're okay with that. Good things take time.
