Day 214 Bible Study 2 Kings 20-21

Day 214 Bible Study 2 Kings 20-21

Welcome to Day 214 Bible Study 2 Kings 20-21 Hezekiah receives healing and additional years of life, but his pride opens the door to Babylon. His son Manasseh later leads Judah into severe idolatry and violence.

2 Kings 20-21 Bible Study: Hezekiah, Manasseh, and Judah's Decline

Hezekiah becomes seriously ill, prays, and receives both healing and a confirming sign from God. Later, Babylonian representatives visit Jerusalem, and Hezekiah shows them his treasures, weapons, and storehouses. Isaiah warns that these riches and some of Hezekiah’s descendants will eventually be carried to Babylon.

Manasseh then rebuilds high places, restores Baal and Asherah worship, places pagan altars inside the temple courts, practices divination and necromancy, sacrifices his son, and fills Jerusalem with innocent blood. Second Kings presents his reign as a major reason Judah’s judgment becomes unavoidable. God had shown mercy, but the nation continued moving deeper into covenant rebellion.

  • God’s Character — God is Merciful and Just: He hears Hezekiah’s prayer and gives healing, yet He also confronts Judah’s idolatry, violence, and rejection of His covenant.
  • God’s Desire — God Desires Humility and Exclusive Worship: His people are not to turn answered prayer, wealth, or political attention into pride or compromise.
  • God’s Promise — God’s Word Will Stand: The warning about Babylon will be fulfilled even though Judah still appears secure during Hezekiah’s lifetime.

The Heartbeat:

God is the unstoppable provider who brings life out of death and fills empty vessels to overflowing.

Heart Check:

What is the size of the vessel you are clearing out for the Lord through prayer and His Word, and do you need to expand your expectations of what He can do?
Are you currently trying to solve a dry, difficult desert situation using your own smart ideas instead of seeking the living water that only Jesus provides?

Heart Dive 365 uses the same Bible reading plan across multiple years, but each year offers a different teaching style and pace. Choose the phase that fits where you are right now.

✨ One Hub. Everything You Need. Every Daily Blog Post includes all three phases on this single page—videos, audio, PDFs, study notes—so you never have to leave to find what you're looking for. (This comprehensive resource is free thanks to our Heartkeepers community.)

Where are the notes?

Understanding Our Terminology

What are "Notes"? We use this word for three different types of study materials:

  • Bible Journaling Pages: PDF copies of Kanoe and Holly's Bible pages with their personal journaling alongside Scripture. Kanoe's notes are available for the entire Bonus Content year and most of Phase One. On days Kanoe took a full Sabbath, Holly's notes cover those passages instead.
  • Heart Check PDFs: Chapter summaries, conversational commentary, reflection questions, Deep Dive questions, and guided closing prayers.
  • Heartbeat of God PDFs: Deep theological breakdowns exploring God's character, attributes, and desires through Scripture.
  • Heart Work PDFs: Practical discipleship challenges and application exercises for personal growth or small group discussion.

One More Thing: All of this was created at significant cost, but is now available completely free thanks to our Heartkeeper community.

Congratulations on making it this far with us!

We hope you've enjoyed the Bonus Year with Kanoe and Phase One of Heart Dive 365.

If you're looking for Phase 2, aka The Heartbeat of God, or Phase 3 Heart Work PDFs, we're currently doing a third walk through the Bible at a more sustainable pace. We're currently taking a sabbatical, so we can honor both the season of life we're in and the depth these passages deserve.

Phase 2 and Phase 3 will make their way to the Hub as we complete them. This could take a few weeks or a few years, and we're okay with that. Good things take time.
