Day 310 Bible Study Mark 13

Day 310 Bible Study Mark 13

Welcome to Day 310! Jesus is sitting on the Mount of Olives looking at the temple, that massive, beautiful building the disciples just finished admiring, and He drops a bombshell: not one stone is going to be left on another. What follows is one of the most sobering, and most practical, chapters in the Gospels.

Heart Dive has partnered with the Manna app to make HD365 even easier to follow. Join the Heart Dive Circle through the player above, and you’ll immediately be prompted to join the complete HD365 reading plan. Once you join, you’ll have access to each day’s reading, audio, and Hub content all in one place. For the best HD365 experience, we recommend following the plan through Manna.

Mark 13: Signs, Suffering, and Staying Awake

The disciples ask Jesus for signs, and He describes wars, earthquakes, and famines, not as proof the world has spun out of God’s control, but as “birth pains,” the beginning of labor, not the end itself. He warns them honestly that they’ll be dragged before courts and betrayed by their own families, but promises “the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Before any of it wraps up, the gospel has to reach every nation first. This isn’t a doom-and-gloom speech. It’s a game plan.

Jesus points to a fig tree: when its branches get tender and put out leaves, you know summer is near. In the same way, when you see these signs, know that He is near, right at the door. But then He pulls back the curtain on something important. Nobody knows the exact day or hour, not the angels, not even the Son, only the Father. So the whole point was never prediction. It’s readiness, staying awake like a servant who’s been given real responsibility while the master is away, watching faithfully whether he comes back tonight or ten years from now.

  • God’s Character: He Is Not Surprised by Chaos. Wars, earthquakes, and famine aren’t signs God lost control. They’re described as labor pains leading somewhere (Mark 13:7-8).
  • God’s Desire: The Gospel Reaching Every Nation. Before the end comes, Jesus says the good news must be preached to all nations first (Mark 13:10).
  • God’s Promise: He Will Sustain You Through Persecution. When you’re dragged before courts for His name, the Holy Spirit will give you the words (Mark 13:11).
  • Glimpse of Jesus: The Son Who Will Return in Glory. The same Jesus they’ll watch suffer is coming back in power, and this time everyone will see Him (Mark 13:26).

The Heartbeat:

God is sovereign over chaos, using even the world’s darkest headlines as labor pains leading toward the return of His Son.

Heart Check:

  • Jesus compared hard seasons to labor pains, painful, but leading somewhere, not random or pointless. When life feels chaotic, do you tend to see it as meaningless or as part of something God is bringing to completion?
  • Jesus’s main instruction wasn’t to predict the timeline, it was to stay awake and ready. What would it look like for you to live today genuinely ready for Him to return, instead of just going through the motions?

Heart Dive 365 uses the same Bible reading plan across multiple years, but each year offers a different teaching style and pace. Choose the phase that fits where you are right now.

✨ One Hub. Everything You Need. Every Daily Blog Post includes all three phases on this single page—videos, audio, PDFs, study notes—so you never have to leave to find what you're looking for. (This comprehensive resource is free thanks to our Heartkeepers community.)

Where are the notes?

Understanding Our Terminology

What are "Notes"? We use this word for three different types of study materials:

  • Bible Journaling Pages: PDF copies of Kanoe and Holly's Bible pages with their personal journaling alongside Scripture. Kanoe's notes are available for the entire Bonus Content year and most of Phase One. On days Kanoe took a full Sabbath, Holly's notes cover those passages instead.
  • Heart Check PDFs: Chapter summaries, conversational commentary, reflection questions, Deep Dive questions, and guided closing prayers.
  • Heartbeat of God PDFs: Deep theological breakdowns exploring God's character, attributes, and desires through Scripture.
  • Heart Work PDFs: Practical discipleship challenges and application exercises for personal growth or small group discussion.

One More Thing: All of this was created at significant cost, but is now available completely free thanks to our Heartkeeper community.

Congratulations on making it this far with us!

We hope you've enjoyed the Bonus Year with Kanoe and Phase One of Heart Dive 365.

If you're looking for Phase 2, aka The Heartbeat of God, or Phase 3 Heart Work PDFs, we're currently doing a third walk through the Bible at a more sustainable pace. We're currently taking a sabbatical, so we can honor both the season of life we're in and the depth these passages deserve.

Phase 2 and Phase 3 will make their way to the Hub as we complete them. This could take a few weeks or a few years, and we're okay with that. Good things take time.
