Day 045 Leviticus 5-7
Welcome to Day 045. God continues to teach about offerings, focusing specifically on guilt and peace offerings.
The guilt offering is fascinating. If you've stolen from someone, lied in court, or taken advantage of another person, you bring a guilt offering. But first, you make restitution. You give back what you stole, plus twenty percent. Then you bring the offering to restore your relationship with God.
Notice the order: first make it right with people, then with God. God cares about justice and restoration, not just religious ritual.
Peace offerings celebrate a restored relationship and are followed by a shared meal. People eat the meat together that stands as a sign of covenant and fellowship.
The Heartbeat: God values restitution and restored relationships. Sin doesn't just separate us from God; it damages our relationships with others. Genuine repentance includes making things right with people, then with God. His goal isn't punishment. It's restoration and fellowship.
Heart-Check: Is there someone you need to make restitution to? What would genuine reconciliation look like?
