Day 037 Exodus 22-24
Welcome to Day 037. God continues to give laws covering everything from theft to relationships, from care for the poor to the treatment of animals.
Notice the pattern: God's laws consistently protect the vulnerable. Laws about helping the poor, releasing slaves every seventh year, and not exploiting foreigners. God's justice isn't just about punishment. It's about protecting those who can't protect themselves.
The laws also regulate property and relationships, establishing order and responsibility. They reflect a God who cares about how people treat each other, not just about religious ritual.
Israel agrees to a covenant with God. Moses seals it with blood, and they share an intimate covenant meal.
The Heartbeat: God's justice protects the vulnerable and establishes community order. He cares how we treat each other. His laws aren't random restrictions—they're expressions of His heart for justice, mercy, and human flourishing.
Heart-Check: Who are the vulnerable in your life? How is God inviting you to reflect His justice and care?
