Day 004 Job 1-5
Welcome to Day 004 Job 1-5, where we are diving heart-first into the Word of God! Today, we meet a man named Job—a blameless and upright servant of God who is about to face an unimaginable test of faith. As we open these first five chapters, we’ll move from the earthly blessings of Job’s life to the hidden spiritual battles in the heavenly realms. We are exactly where we need to be as we explore one of the deepest theological questions: How do we trust God’s heart when His hand seems to be working against us? Grab your Bible and your notes, and let’s dive into the heartbeat of God together!
The Timeline: Why are we in Job?
You might notice that we’ve taken a shift from Genesis into the Book of Job today. Because Heart Dive 365 follows a Chronological Bible Reading Plan, we are reading the books in the order that the events actually occurred in history, rather than the order they appear in a standard Bible.
While the standard Bible is organized by “type” (Law, History, Poetry, etc.), a chronological approach helps us see the “full picture” of God’s redemptive story as it unfolded. Most scholars believe Job was a contemporary of Abraham because his wealth was measured in livestock, he lived over 200 years, and there is no mention of the Mosaic Law or the Tabernacle—placing him squarely in the patriarchal era of Genesis.
