Each year covers the same Days, but the format and depth differ: 2023 is the “starter” style, 2024 is a fuller verse-by-verse style, and 2025+ is a slower, focused on the study of GOD + discipleship-focused journey.

Here are our most frequently asked questions.

Getting Started

What are we doing in 2026?

In 2026, we are continuing our mission to find the “Heartbeat of God” throughout His Word. We aren’t starting over from Day 1 this year; instead, we are picking up right where we left off.

    • Starting Point: On January 1st, we will begin with Lesson 91.

    • The Goal: We are continuing our year-long expedition to see the Bible as one unfolding story.

Wait—I’m a newbie! Where do I begin?

If you’re new and feel like you’re “behind,” please take a deep breath—you aren’t!. Heart Dive is a library, not a race.

  • Option 1 (Join Us Live): You can jump right in with us at Lesson 91 on January 1st.

  • Option 2 (The Foundation): If you prefer to start at the very beginning of the story, we highly recommend starting with our Phase 1 (2024) playlist, where we read every word from Genesis to Revelation.

  • At Your Own Pace: You can follow along at whatever speed fits your life.

What Bible are we using?

  • The Translation: Kanoe uses the English Standard Version (ESV) for its word-for-word accuracy.

  • Kanoe’s Bible: She specifically uses an Interleaved Bible, which has a blank page between every page of Scripture for all her deep-dive notes.

  • Use What You Have: While we use the ESV, you are encouraged to use whatever translation best helps you hear God’s heart!

Whether you start at the beginning or join us at Lesson 91, we are just honored to walk this journey with you. Let’s dive heart first into 2026!.

Where do I begin?

Think of Heart Dive as a library, not a race. We recommend starting with Phase 1 to build a solid foundation of the Old Testament.

Should I catch up?

No! You aren’t behind. Whether you are on Day 10 or Day 300, you are exactly where you need to be as long as you are in the Word.

What is the difference between the Phases?

Beta (2023): The original video-only walk-through.

Phase 1 (2024): A verse-by-verse commentary with prayer and “Heart Checks.”

Phase 2 & 3 (2025/2026): Moving deeper into the “Heartbeat of God” and active discipleship “Heart Work.”

Where are the 2023 reading plan videos?

Start here with with Kanoe’s video playlist on YouTube from 2023. (Completely Free)

A simple YouTube channel and self-discipline are what started it all. You can find the 2023 YouTube playlist here.

Where are the 2024 reading plan videos?

You can access the entire YouTube Playlist here.

Where are the 2025 reading plan videos?

You can access the entire YouTube Playlist here.

How do I find Kanoe’s notes?

As you study, you’re going to want to take notes. But please know that you do not have to do your notes EXACTLY the way Kanoe does.

You can absolutely create your own method! Kanoe is here to help get you started, but if you do think her notes will be helpful to you, too, there are two places to locate them:

1. The notes will be available underneath every YouTube video and on every DAILY reading post on this website.

2. NOTE: You may need to download the Google Docs app or use a desktop browser. Notes will appear blurry on phones. If it still won’t open in Google Docs, make sure you are not in the YouTube app but in a browser version.

Bibles & Supplies

What BIBLE is Kanoe using?

Kanoe uses the ESV Interleaved Edition. She prefers the ESV for its word-for-word accuracy and the interleaved pages for plenty of note-taking space.

CLICK HERE to view her Bible of choice in 2024 (UPDATE: In 2026, she is still using the same Bible).

In her 2023 study, Kanoe is using the ESV Single Column Artist Series Hardcover Journaling Bible. You can find it here.

Does Kanoe use a color coding system in her notes?

Nope! We know her Bible can rival any rainbow, but Kanoe’s system is simply making sure her notes correlate with the verse highlighted. You are free to devise your own system.

Where can I get the same supplies for Bible journaling that Kanoe is using?

Kanoe has an Amazon storefront to view her favorite resources for Bible reading and journaling.

What is the thin paper I see in the videos?

It is tracing paper or vellum! These are translucent or transparent sheets that are perfect for printing “tape-ins” or “tip-ins,” such as our Bible Project posters, to add directly into your journaling Bible.

We recommend using a Laser printer if possible. Laser printers use heat to fuse dry toner to the page, which prevents the ink from smearing or dripping on the slick surface of the vellum. If you use an Inkjet, the liquid ink may take a very long time to dry and is prone to smearing.

The Heart Dive Experience

Why study the Bible in one year?

Studying the Bible in a year isn’t mandatory, yet it offers valuable benefits. While it’s not a requirement, committing to this journey provides a structured approach, fostering discipline and consistency in exploring God’s Word. Additionally, joining others on this path creates a supportive community, offering encouragement and accountability throughout the transformative process.

Again, it ISN’T necessary. Go at your own speed.

What is the difference between a Chronological reading plan vs reading the Bible front to back?

Studying the Bible as a complete narrative in order allows us to comprehend God’s unfolding story for humanity, revealing His consistent love and purpose. This approach helps us see the connections between passages, fostering a deeper understanding of His teachings and guidance.

In Romans 15:4, Scripture emphasizes that the past writings aim to teach and encourage us, nurturing hope through endurance and the wisdom found in the Scriptures.

KEY POINT: The Bible is not written in strict chronological order from beginning to end. It’s a collection of books that vary in their timelines and writing styles, ranging from historical accounts, poetry, letters, and prophetic visions. While some sections follow a chronological sequence, others present themes or lessons, resulting in a non-linear structure. Reading the Bible in its entirety provides a comprehensive view of biblical history and teachings, but it may require supplementary resources or specific study guides to follow a strict chronological order.

What denomination is Heart Dive?

We are followers of Jesus focused on the Great Commission. Our “denomination” is simply being disciples who desire to love God and love others sacrificially.

Heart Dive is a Protestant, “Bible-only” ministry. While we both come from backgrounds that include Pentecostal, Charismatic, and Church of Christ traditions, we do not align with one specific earthly denomination. Instead, we lean toward a doctrine that lets Scripture interpret Scripture.

We like to say that Kanoe is more “spirit-filled” while Holly is more conservative. Because of our different backgrounds—ranging from the miraculous gifts of Pentecostalism to the simplicity of the Church of Christ—we don’t always see eye-to-eye on every secondary issue.

Our “creed” is the Bible. We emphasize that salvation is by God’s grace through faith, not works. We are simply two disciples who love the Holy Spirit and believe that respecting Scripture as the highest authority is the only way to live. We value unity in the essentials and charity in the “grey areas”.

What is “The Heartbeat of God”?

This is our focus for 2025/2026: slowing down to look for God’s character, themes, purpose, promises, attributes, and how they connect and point to JESUS. It is a deeper-dive Bible study that challenges our personal relationship with God beyond just a checklist.

Community & Connection

What are your suggestions for inviting others to the Facebook group?

We are thrilled you want to share the group with your friends and family!

    • FYI: Mass invitations sometimes come as a surprise to the people who are invited.
    • They may not even notice they have been invited to a group until they are accepted into the group and may not appreciate being admitted into a group they never asked to join.
    • So if you do a mass invitation, please be sure to alert the people that you are doing so and why.
Is there a way for me to go deeper beyond the YouTube videos?

If you are looking to take your study beyond just watching videos, the answer is a resounding YES, but in a way that focuses on real-life connection and action.

While we do not host official virtual meetings or Zoom groups, we are moving into a season of “HANDS” Discipleship. We want to see you take what you are learning and share it with those around you.

How to go deeper:

  • Start Your Own Group: Use our new Heart Work materials or any of our study guides to start your own small group, friend circle, or church reading plan.

  • Heart Work & Heartbeats: In Phase 3, we provide “Heart Work” PDFs specifically designed to challenge you with discipleship goals that make you “do the work”.

  • Modeled Discussions: Our latest Phase 3 videos include discussion forums to model how small group conversations can look, so you can replicate that in your own community.

  • Coming Soon: We are currently developing a full curriculum bundle specifically for groups, including guidance on how to use and honor our work within your small group setting.

We love hearing from the many of you who are already doing this!. Whether it is in-person or a virtual meet-up you organize yourself, we encourage you to step out in obedience and fellowship.
