Day 033 Exodus 10-12

Welcome to Day 033. The plagues intensify. Darkness covers the land—not metaphorical darkness, but a thick, physical darkness so deep that Egyptians can't see their hands in front of their faces.

Finally, God announces the final plague: every firstborn son in Egypt will die. But God provides a way of escape for His people. They must sacrifice a lamb and mark their doorposts with blood. When the angel of death passes through, he will "pass over" the homes marked with blood.

This is the birth of Passover—a feast that remembers God's deliverance forever. The Israelites prepare to leave Egypt after 430 years of slavery.

The Heartbeat: God provides a way of escape from judgment. He doesn't destroy indiscriminately—He marks and protects His people. His salvation is personal, intentional, and secure. This ancient feast foreshadows the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

Yet, it was where she found her rhythm, testing the waters of daily video commentary and discovering a community of "Heart Divers" hungry for more than just a surface-level reading.

Day 032 Exodus 7-9

Welcome to Day 032. Moses and Aaron stand before Pharaoh with a simple message: "Let God's people go." Pharaoh refuses. And God responds with power.

The plagues begin—water turns to blood, frogs cover the land, and insects swarm everywhere. Each plague is targeted, severe, and undeniable. God isn't subtle. He's making a statement: I am more powerful than your gods, your authority, and your will.

What's remarkable is Pharaoh's stubbornness. Even as his land is devastated, he keeps refusing. Pride blinds him. He can't admit defeat, so he digs in deeper.

The Heartbeat: God's power is absolute. He moves to rescue His people, and nothing in heaven or earth can resist Him. When He acts, the most powerful human resistance crumbles. He doesn't negotiate with oppression—He dismantles it.

Day 031 Exodus 4-6

Welcome to Day 031. Moses doesn't want to go. He's afraid. He's not eloquent. He questions God repeatedly. "Who am I?" "What if they don't believe me?" "I can't do this."

But God is patient. He gives Moses signs, appoints Aaron as his spokesman, and repeatedly reassures him: "I will be with you."

God's patience with Moses's fear is remarkable. He doesn't shame him or reject him. He works with him, around him, through him. God will use Moses's weakness to display His power.

The Heartbeat: God equips the fearful for His purposes. He doesn't call the brave. He makes them brave through His presence. Our weakness is not a disqualification; it's the perfect place for God's strength to show up.

Day 030 Exodus 1-3

Welcome to Day 030. Generations have passed. Joseph's family, once welcomed and honored, is now enslaved. A new Pharaoh doesn't remember Joseph. He sees only a threat in the growing Hebrew population.

Israel is crushed under slavery. But God hears their cries. He remembers His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

And He calls Moses, a man who was himself hidden, raised as an Egyptian, now a fugitive in the wilderness. God appears in a burning bush and tells Moses, "I have come down to rescue them."

The Heartbeat: God hears the cries of the oppressed. He doesn't ignore injustice. He responds with deliverance. He chooses the unlikely, the reluctant, the broken to accomplish His purposes of freedom.

Day 029 Genesis 48-50

Welcome to Day 029. Jacob is dying, and before he goes, he blesses Joseph's sons. By crossing his hands so that the younger receives the greater blessing, just as he himself was blessed.

Jacob's life ends not in bitterness over what he lost, but in blessing over what God gave. He lived long enough to see God's faithfulness fulfilled.

Joseph outlives his father and ensures his family is cared for. But more than that, he makes them promise to carry his bones back to Canaan when God leads them there. Joseph dies in faith, not having received all the promises, but believing them.

The Heartbeat: A life lived in faith leaves a legacy. What we believe about God shapes what we pass on to the next generation. Our faithfulness is a testimony that will outlive us.

Our Foundation: In 2023, Kanoe took the first dive. It began as a raw, real-time experimental Bible study in consistency; a commitment to walk through the Word chronologically and see what happened when we showed up for God every day.

This was where Heart Dive was birthed, not as a ministry but as a personal call to obedience. Kanoe didn't intend for it to catch fire and grow beyond her "junk journaling" of #NOTESandHUES.

Yet, it was where she found her rhythm, testing the waters of daily video commentary and discovering a community of "Heart Divers" hungry for more than just a surface-level reading.

Welcome to Day 028. Jacob takes his entire family to Egypt. He's old, he's tired, but he's also been promised that God will make him a great nation there.

Joseph settles his family in Goshen, the best land. He provides for them abundantly. As famine continues to devastate Egypt, Joseph's family grows stronger and more numerous. God is preserving His people.

Jacob blesses Pharaoh before he dies. A beautiful picture of the faithful blessing the powerful, secure in whose they belong.

The Heartbeat: God preserves His covenant people. Even in crisis, even in exile, even when surrounded by those who don't know Him, God protects and multiplies those who belong to Him. His care is meticulous, and His provision is abundant.

Day 027 Genesis 43-45

Welcome to Day 027. The tension builds as Joseph's brothers return to Egypt. Joseph tests them, manipulates situations, and makes them suffer a little. But finally, he breaks.

"I am Joseph," he says. "Don't be afraid. You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good."

Joseph's forgiveness is complete and costly. He could have destroyed his brothers. Instead, he restores them. He brings his entire family to Egypt, securing their future.

The Heartbeat: God's forgiveness is complete and transformative. When we forgive as God forgives—truly, fully, without holding back—we become instruments of healing. Forgiveness doesn't erase what happened, but it frees both the forgiver and the forgiven.

Heart-Check: Who do you need to forgive? What would it look like to forgive as completely as Joseph did?

Day 026 Genesis 41-42

Welcome to Day 026. After years in prison, Joseph is suddenly called before Pharaoh. Joseph interprets dreams that no one else could understand, and Pharaoh recognizes God's Spirit in him.

Joseph goes from prisoner to prime minister. He's given authority over all Egypt. He's given a wife, a name, a completely new life.

Now famine comes, just as Joseph predicted. And who arrives in Egypt seeking food? His brothers. Joseph recognizes them, but they don't recognize him.

The Heartbeat: God elevates those who trust Him. Even through injustice, even through years of waiting, even through circumstances beyond our control, God positions His faithful ones for purposes they couldn't have imagined. His timing is always perfect.

Day 025 Genesis 38-40

Welcome to Day 025. Joseph is in prison—falsely accused, forgotten by the cupbearer he helped. Meanwhile, Judah faces his own reckoning when he encounters Tamar, and realizes his own hypocrisy.

These are stories of injustice. Joseph did nothing wrong yet suffers. Judah did wrong and is confronted. Both are in darkness, both are struggling. But God is present in both stories, working behind the scenes.

The Heartbeat: God is present in injustice. He doesn't abandon us in darkness. His purposes are being accomplished even when we can't see His hand. He vindicates the innocent and confronts the guilty—all according to His perfect timing.

Welcome to Day 024. Jacob returns to Bethel, where God first spoke to him. God confirms everything: the land, the descendants, the blessing. Israel's story is being woven through his family.

Now we meet Joseph, Jacob's favored son. Joseph has dreams that infuriate his brothers—dreams suggesting he'll rule over them. In jealousy, they sell him into slavery.

It's a brutal act. But God has plans Joseph can't yet see.

The Heartbeat: God's purposes extend beyond us into generations we'll never see. He plants promises that grow through families, through time, through circumstances we can't control. He is weaving a story far larger than any single life.

Day 023 Genesis 32-34

Welcome to Day 023. Jacob is terrified. He's about to face Esau, the brother he cheated years ago. He sends gifts ahead, trying to appease. But that night, he encounters God in a wrestling match.

Jacob fights all night. He's injured, exhausted, but he won't let go. And God renames him: Jacob (the deceiver) becomes Israel (he who wrestles with God). His identity is transformed through this encounter.

Later, we meet Dinah, Jacob's daughter, and a darker story unfolds. It reminds us that even God's chosen family lives in a broken world.

The Heartbeat: God meets us in our struggle. He doesn't avoid the wrestling—He engages it. And through that encounter, He transforms us. A new name, a new identity, a new purpose. We are not who we were.

Day 022 Genesis 30-31

Welcome to Day 022. Jacob works for Laban, intending to marry Rachel. But Laban deceives him—giving him Leah first. Jacob ends up with both sisters, which creates family conflict that echoes through generations.

Yet from this messy situation, God multiplies Jacob's family and wealth. Jacob works hard, but it's God who multiplies. And when Jacob finally flees with his wives and children, God protects him from Laban's pursuit.

The Heartbeat: God multiplies what we entrust to Him. Even in chaos, even in dysfunction, even when we're in situations we didn't choose, God works on behalf of those who belong to Him.

Before Heart Dive

Our Foundation: In 2023, Kanoe took the first dive. It began as a raw, real-time experimental Bible study in consistency; a commitment to walk through the Word chronologically and see what happened when we showed up for God every day.

This was where Heart Dive was birthed, not as a ministry but as a personal call to obedience. Kanoe didn't intend for it to catch fire and grow beyond her "junk journaling" of #NOTESandHUES.

Yet, it was where she found her rhythm, testing the waters of daily video commentary and discovering a community of "Heart Divers" hungry for more than just a surface-level reading.

These early reflections may contain doctrinal or technical errors. We ask for your grace as you listen, and always encourage you to study the Word for yourself.
