Day 300 Bible Study Luke 14-15

Day 300 Bible Study Luke 14-15

Welcome to Day 300! Three hundred days in the Word, friend! Today Jesus talks about who gets invited to God’s table, and He tells the story of a father who runs to meet his runaway son.

Heart Dive has partnered with the Manna app to make HD365 even easier to follow. Join the Heart Dive Circle through the player above, and you’ll immediately be prompted to join the complete HD365 reading plan. Once you join, you’ll have access to each day’s reading, audio, and Hub content all in one place. For the best HD365 experience, we recommend following the plan through Manna.

Luke 14-15: The Father Who Runs

At a dinner party, Jesus notices guests scrambling for the best seats. He tells them to take the lowest seat instead, and to invite people who can’t pay them back. Then He tells about a great banquet. The invited guests all make excuses, so the master sends his servant to the streets and country roads to bring in the poor, the crippled, and the blind. “Compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.” Jesus also tells the crowds to count the cost before following Him.

In Luke 15, the Pharisees grumble that Jesus welcomes sinners. So He tells three stories about lost things: a sheep, a coin, and a son. The younger son wastes everything and comes home hoping to be a hired servant. But “while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.” The father throws a party! The older brother is angry, and the father goes out to him too. Both sons were invited in.

  • God’s Character: The Running Father. God isn’t standing at the door with His arms crossed. He sees us from far off and runs to us with compassion (Luke 15:20-24).
  • God’s Desire: A Full House. God wants His table filled with people the world overlooks, and He wants us to celebrate when the lost come home (Luke 14:23; 15:7, 32).
  • God’s Promise: You’re Still His Child. The son came home hoping to be a hired hand. The father gave him a robe, a ring, and a feast (Luke 15:19-23).
  • Glimpse of Jesus: Friend of Sinners. “This man receives sinners and eats with them.” The Pharisees meant it as a complaint, and it’s the best news we could hear (Luke 15:1-2).

The Heartbeat:

God is our running Father who waits for our return, throws a lavish feast over our repentance, and restores us to full sonship.

Heart Check:

  • If you have strayed into a distant country, will you arise today and return to your Father’s open arms?
  • Do you harbor elder-brother resentment toward newly restored sinners, or do you rejoice with heaven’s angels?

Heart Dive 365 uses the same Bible reading plan across multiple years, but each year offers a different teaching style and pace. Choose the phase that fits where you are right now.

✨ One Hub. Everything You Need. Every Daily Blog Post includes all three phases on this single page—videos, audio, PDFs, study notes—so you never have to leave to find what you're looking for. (This comprehensive resource is free thanks to our Heartkeepers community.)

Where are the notes?

Understanding Our Terminology

What are "Notes"? We use this word for three different types of study materials:

  • Bible Journaling Pages: PDF copies of Kanoe and Holly's Bible pages with their personal journaling alongside Scripture. Kanoe's notes are available for the entire Bonus Content year and most of Phase One. On days Kanoe took a full Sabbath, Holly's notes cover those passages instead.
  • Heart Check PDFs: Chapter summaries, conversational commentary, reflection questions, Deep Dive questions, and guided closing prayers.
  • Heartbeat of God PDFs: Deep theological breakdowns exploring God's character, attributes, and desires through Scripture.
  • Heart Work PDFs: Practical discipleship challenges and application exercises for personal growth or small group discussion.

One More Thing: All of this was created at significant cost, but is now available completely free thanks to our Heartkeeper community.

Congratulations on making it this far with us!

We hope you've enjoyed the Bonus Year with Kanoe and Phase One of Heart Dive 365.

If you're looking for Phase 2, aka The Heartbeat of God, or Phase 3 Heart Work PDFs, we're currently doing a third walk through the Bible at a more sustainable pace. We're currently taking a sabbatical, so we can honor both the season of life we're in and the depth these passages deserve.

Phase 2 and Phase 3 will make their way to the Hub as we complete them. This could take a few weeks or a few years, and we're okay with that. Good things take time.
