Day 071 Deuteronomy 3-4
Welcome to Day 071. Israel continues conquering. Joshua and Caleb lead victories. The promised land is becoming a reality.
But Moses goes to the mountaintop to see the land—knowing he'll never enter it. God had said no. One moment of disobedience at the rock cost him the promise.
Moses could be bitter. He could feel punished. Instead, he goes to the mountain and gets a fresh vision. Scripture doesn't record what God said to him there, but Moses comes down able to bless Joshua and encourage the people.
How? Because sometimes God's "no" isn't rejection. It's redirection. God was making room for a new leader to emerge. And Moses understood that.
Moses also warns the people about idolatry. God is jealous for them and not in a possessive way, but the way a loving parent is jealous for their child's well-being. God knows that anything other than Him will hurt them.
He reminds them to keep the commandments, and you'll live long in the land. Turn away, and you'll perish and be scattered. But even in scattering, God won't forget His covenant. He'll bring them back.
The Heartbeat: God's "no" doesn't mean the end. It means the beginning of something new. His jealousy for us is protective. He wants us entirely for Himself because He knows that's where we flourish.
Heart-Check: Has God said no to something you wanted? Can you trust that He's doing something new?
