Day 036 Exodus 19-21
Welcome to Day 036. Three months after leaving Egypt, Israel arrives at Mount Sinai. And God does something extraordinary.
He appears on the mountain in fire and smoke. Thunder rolls. Lightning flashes. The entire mountain shakes. And God speaks—giving Moses the Ten Commandments, the foundation of His covenant with Israel.
These aren't arbitrary rules. They're a reflection of God's character. Love God completely. Don't make idols. Honor your parents. Don't murder. Don't steal. These laws reveal what matters to God and what builds healthy communities.
The people agree to follow. But we know from history that they'll struggle. The law exposes sin but can't transform the heart—that's a theme that will echo through Scripture.
The Heartbeat: God's law reflects His character and His care for His people. He doesn't give rules to control but to guide us toward flourishing. His law shows us what He values and what He wants for our lives.
Heart-Check: Where is God's law challenging you today? What is He inviting you to align with His character in?
