Day 078 Deuteronomy 24-27
Welcome to Day 078. Moses keeps returning to one theme = YOUR WORD MATTERS! If you make a vow to God, keep it. If you promise something, follow through.
He also returns to protecting the vulnerable. A creditor can't take everything from a debtor—they need to leave enough for the debtor to survive. Workers deserve to be paid on time. Widows and orphans deserve care.
Then God tells the people to build an altar on Mount Ebal and write all His laws on stones. It's saying, "Write this down. Make it visible. Don't forget."
Half the tribes stand on one mountain to pronounce blessings, and half stand on the other to pronounce curses. The blessings come with obedience. The curses come with disobedience. It's a visible reminder that your choices have consequences.
The Heartbeat: God takes our words and promises seriously because they reveal our hearts. When we keep our word, we're reflecting His faithfulness. When we break it, we're breaking trust with others and with Him.
Heart-Check: Have you made any promises to God or others that you haven't kept? What would it take to make it right?
