Day 073 Deuteronomy 8-10
Welcome to Day 073. Moses reminds the people that God humbled them in the wilderness. He tested them to see whether they'd obey Him.
Why would a loving God do that? Because God cares about the condition of your heart. You can be poor and proud, or wealthy and humble. You can be comfortable and ungrateful, or struggling and trusting. God wants hearts that are humble and dependent on Him.
For forty years, God provided manna. Not because they deserved it, but because they were His people and He loved them. They didn't earn it. They didn't deserve it. It was a pure gift.
Moses warns the people that when you enter the Promised Land and have abundance, don't forget the Lord. Don't think you earned your success. Remember where you came from. Remember what God did.
Then Moses gives them the core requirement = CIRCUMCISE your HEARTS. Physically, circumcision is a sign of the covenant. But God wants something deeper—hearts that are cut away from pride, selfishness, and rebellion. Hearts that are open and responsive to Him.
He also reminds them to love the foreigner, because they were foreigners in Egypt. God cares about how we treat the vulnerable and overlooked.
The Heartbeat: God wants humble hearts that remember His faithfulness. He cares more about the condition of your heart than your circumstances or success. And He wants hearts that are open to Him and to others.
Heart-Check: Is your heart humble and responsive to God? Or are there areas hardened by pride or selfishness?
