The Sounds of Christmas

As I stroll through the town with my mom, the melodic chime of bells fills the air, signaling the approach of Christmas. The weeks leading up to this joyous holiday are always marked by a cacophony of bells, chimes, and lively noise, creating an atmosphere of joy and anticipation. This festive period is a time for families to reunite, plan elaborate meals, and deck their homes in festive attire. I fondly recall my mom transforming our home with new curtains, chair covers, and rugs, filling me with excitement. Those bustling days were filled with eager anticipation, making it hard to sleep as I eagerly awaited the next delightful surprise my mom had in store for the holiday.

The Peace That Jesus Brings to the World

Reflecting on Peace in Nature

Growing up, I loved walking along the pond, feeling the sand between my toes as I watched the water lap gently at my feet. The pond’s calmness was mesmerizing, yet distinctly different from the ocean’s energetic movement. The beach water crashed against the shore with intensity, then relaxed as the waves lost momentum, quietly soothing my spirit. In contrast, the pond’s stillness seemed to invite me to disturb its serenity, its tranquility beckoning me to share my deepest thoughts.

The ocean’s constant movement stirred my senses, evoking feelings of joy and peace. Meanwhile, the pond’s glassy surface reflected my inner self, inspiring trust and encouraging me to express my innermost thoughts. Both bodies of water offered unique experiences, catering to different emotional needs. While some prefer the ocean’s dynamic energy, others find solace in the pond’s quiet contemplation. Ultimately, both bring individuals to a state of tranquility.

The Peace of Jesus Compared to Nature

There is a peace that is even better than both instances of sea or pond water. This peace comes from Jesus. From the moment Jesus was born, peace entered the world. He is peace, and His presence brought it wherever He went. His intention was to share what He is so that mankind could live in peace.

The peace that Jesus offers is far superior to the calming effects of sea or pond water. It’s a peace that transcends circumstances, providing stability and reassurance in times of turmoil. Jesus described this peace as, “My peace I give to you; not as the world gives” (John 14:27). This heavenly peace reconciles us with God, enabling oneness and unity with our Creator.

When we have the peace of Christ Jesus, we learn who we are as children of God, freed from self-doubt and insecurities. This peace allows us to cast off worry and share the love and tranquility of God with others, especially those experiencing challenging circumstances.

Living Out His Peace

The peace Jesus brought to the world helps us to understand our worth and who we are in Him. How we experience peace with God and within ourselves is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Through prayer, worship, meditation, and studying the Word daily, we embrace the surpassing peace of Christ.

This peace surpasses even the serenity felt by the sea or pond during the holidays. It is a peace that celebrates Jesus’ birth and His redemptive mission.

I Experienced His Peace Personally

Transformation Through Jesus

Jesus’ birth marked the beginning of my salvation journey. When I accepted Him as Lord, His peace immediately transformed my life. Though challenges remained, Jesus’ peace transcended my circumstances, filling my soul with deep-seated joy. His peace declared: “You are healed, you are free!”

During difficult times, I cried out to God, overwhelmed by worries and anxieties. But the Lord reminded me: “I am your peace.” His peace strengthened my faith, assuring me that Jesus holds the answers.

Living Out His Peace in Relationships

Jesus’ peace, as proclaimed in Luke 2:14, transforms lives by offering inner calm amidst turmoil, confidence in God’s plan, spiritual growth, and loving unity with my family. The peace I received I emulate in my marriage and my parenting. It involves reflecting His love and compassion, providing hope in uncertainty, encouraging faith and trust, and embodying peace in relationships.

As we embrace Jesus’ peace, we become beacons of hope, shining His light to those around us. May His peace reign in our hearts and lives, guiding us to spread love, joy, and harmony.
